The Worldview a Renaissance Requires

The Interconnectionism Pod

Seeding the future, because nothing thrives alone.

Interconnection is the foundational reality of life, and yet it is almost nowhere in public and political discourse. The Interconnectionism Pod takes interconnection seriously as an “ism” -- a worldview as complete as any that built the modern world.

Definition

in·ter·con·nec·tion·ism noun

[ from interconnection, the state of being mutually joined, + -ism, a doctrine or way of understanding ]

1. The understanding that nothing thrives alone.

2 · Ecological

An eco-centric worldview holding that human flourishing is impossible without ecological health.

3 · Spiritual

A grounding that rejects both the single vengeful god “out there” and the smug certainty that the sacred is a myth for fools. Why? Because God-is-in-All...full stop.

4 · Individual

The elevation of the human soul; the insistence that no future is possible unless every person is taught to know the truth of who they are and empowered to create from that place.

5 · Relational

A call toward maturity -- the recognition that sovereignty and belonging are one movement, and that we grow up, as people and as a species, only when we stop trying to thrive at the expense of the earth, or of one another.

“To live by interconnectionism is to remember that soul and body, human and earth, self and other are never truly separate.”

An Old Truth, a New “Ism”

Interconnection is not a new idea.

Indigenous peoples have lived it as kinship with all living beings. The world’s spiritual traditions teach it as love of neighbor that extends to all of creation. Ecology finds it in every watershed and forest, and science keeps confirming it, from cells to cosmos. What is new within modernity is treating it as a worldview with something to say about everything: how we farm and heal, how we teach and make art, how we build economies, and how we govern ourselves.

What changes when we stop living as if we are separate?

Who Is Invited

A million voices. One conversation.

Millions of people already live interconnection in their own voice and in their own way -- on the land, in classrooms and congregations, in studios and at retreats. This show brings these voices together, because whatever comes next depends on our ability to speak truth in a single voice and to intentionally act from a single consciousness.

What to Expect

A fun, free-ranging, serious but feral conversation.

The format

About 60 to 75 minutes, recorded on video. Most conversations happen remotely. When we’re in the same place, we’ll do it in person.

The tone

Playful and serious at once. No gotchas and no talking points. We go where the conversation wants to go, usually toward the story of how you came to see the world this way and obstacles you overcame on your path.

The prep

Almost none. We’ll have a short call first to get to know each other and find the threads worth pulling. Then bring yourself, tell your story, be vulnerable and dive into the practical details of the renaissance we’re creating together.

What you get

The full episode, plus 5 vertical, captioned clips, posted as Instagram Collabs so they land on your grid too. I promise to extract at least one story that makes you uncomfortable... but that your audience will love :) And you’ll see your clips before they go live.

Your Host

Scott Mackey

Cover of Love Is Not the Answer, a novel by Scott Mackey

Scott Mackey is a writer and organizer who has spent his life between politics and the soul. He’s a former missionary kid that bailed on God before rediscovering the God-in-All through nature and plant-medicine, spent a decade in Washington working in foreign policy, and staffed both Obama campaigns. He is the author of the novel Love Is Not the Answer, which imagines the war on love that happens after a movement to bring love into politics threatens the status quo. The Interconnectionism Pod is where he brings his worlds together.
